Ctrl+Shift+D

Splits all the way down

Split horizontal or vertical to arbitrary depth, or drop a 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4 grid in one keystroke. Splits survive layout rebuilds.

Ctrl+S

Pick up your workspace

Save your layout, pane names, colors, and working directories. Reopen a familiar workspace when you return.

Ctrl+Shift+B

Broadcast input

Type once, run everywhere. Keystrokes mirror to every broadcasting pane. A fleet of SSH sessions, handled at once.

Ctrl+F

Find the line you need

Search the terminal screen and scrollback without leaving your pane. Keep the output you need close to the work.

Ctrl+Shift+Z

Zoom, don’t lose

Fullscreen one pane inside its tab while the rest keep running. Zoom back out and the layout is exactly as you left it.

Panes that know where they are

Working-directory tracking lets compatible shells report where you are. Save that location with your workspace.

Muxer also brings SSH connections, RDP remote desktops, and VNC sessions alongside your terminals. Session hosts, RDP, and VNC are part of the full Muxer edition.

Before you get started

A few useful details.

What is the difference between Lite and Muxer?

Muxer Lite is the free edition for shells, panes, and tabs, with the core terminal workspace tools. The full Muxer edition adds session-host support, RDP and VNC remote desktops, and additional pane types such as notes and checklists. In Lite, new panes are shells and SSH connections belong in the connections tree. Edition builds are being prepared for release.

Can I download or buy Muxer today?

The commercial editions are preparing for launch. Verified downloads, system requirements, and purchase details will appear here when they are ready.

Which operating systems are you launching on?

We are focusing the first commercial release on Windows x64. Additional platforms will be announced after release testing.

What makes Muxer different from a terminal with tabs?

Muxer combines a split terminal workspace with remote connections, including SSH, RDP, and VNC. You can organize local work and remote machines in the same window, then save that workspace for later.

Do saved workspaces keep every process running?

Saved workspaces remember layout and configuration. Reopening a layout does not itself preserve running local processes. In the full Muxer edition, sessions running on an independent session host can continue when the desktop app closes; the host must remain running.

Does the price include hosted infrastructure?

No. Muxer connects to session hosts and remote machines you run or have access to. The planned license is for the desktop software; hosting is not included.

Will Muxer require a subscription?

The proposed Muxer license lets you keep using the version you purchase. It includes 12 months of updates and support, with an optional annual renewal after that. The final terms will be available before sales open.
